the real reason why it seems like the author was on drugs while writing this is because he was proving the existance of non-existance, which sounds like nonsense. it was written in 1865 during the victorian era, and everything in wonderland was to say, the opposite of reality. where as cheshire cat would say "we're all mad here." becuase caroll attempted to prove 'non-existence' which is nearly impossible, it made him seem like he was on drugs.
