@18 minutes in, I disagree wholly. We should not have bailed AIG out. or any of the others. Why? Because you can't trust criminals within the government to do the right thing.

so what can people do about this?

1. since we're selling government companies like GM, sell Goldman Sachs to China using the Repo 105 transaction to get the liabilities off our books to make the Treasury balance sheet look better.

2. stop using realtors. sell your own homes, save your $. Realtors lobbied for TARP.

3. the gov needs to stop obstructing justice?

4. take TARP back,, free market discipline.

5. no backdoor bailouts, raise interest rates. make banks pay to use taxdollars.

So government is corrupt and the idiotic answer is to blame government. The police department is corrupt so let the criminals police themselves? The real problem is that decades of uninvolvement by the public have let the "captains of industry" take over the only real protective body that the People have against the predatory capitalism.~ I have to say, Ayn Rand and Milton Friedman are FUCKING ASS HOLES and sociopaths. And this i a case where it doesn't take one to know one. Quite the opposite.

Subprimes are just like options. Subprimes are collateralized by bonds, options are collateralized by 100 shares of underlying stock. When you write a naked call, it's considered a highly risky investment and no one will allow you to do that without minimum net worth of $25,000 or the highest option approval to show everyone you can take the risk, if it falls through, the buyer can go after you for everything you have.

They did this with subprimes and the CFTC did NOTHING.

@21 Katie asks about criminal charges. He said he didn't know except for fraud.

According to Judge Painter, formerly with the CFTC made it publicly known that Wendy Gramm and the CFTC agreed to block any complaint against subprime dealers. That right there is obstruction of justice, violation of Title 18 USC 1501-1525.

Also, these subprimes were not collateralized and misrepresented to investors. The CFTC did not allow investors to pursue the subprime dealers, banks about this.
