Hi, my Great Grandad Died Today At The advanced age of 96, so he Had a good run! I would just like to know how long Roughly It Takes Before the funeral IS Held As I'm due to go away on holiday Friday to Would Like to Be ici pour la funeral So Would Need to change my holiday.

Here in the UK, its about a week,it just depends on how busy the undertakers are. My dad died on November 18th and his funeral was the following week on Thursday 24th. My mum died just after Christmas 3 years ago, December 28thand we couldn't have her funeral until the 12th of January because there were so many other funerals being held. If he died in hospital then there will be no need for a post mortem , the law is that if it is a sudden death then a post mortem must take place. A sudden death is when foul play is suspected, murder that sort of thing, suicide, death through an accident andwhere the deceased hasn't been seen by a doctor within the two weeks prior to death.
