I wish the BBC would repeat the original series. Great theme tune also. I was eleven years old but I loved this series.

Fair enough, I've now seen the film - it is absolutely terrible. By contemporary thriller standards it's soggy, routine and terribly cliched; compared to the original miniseries it is indescribably bad. And that's not even taking into account all the laughable Plastic Paddy references...William Monaghan is so wrapped up in his affected cultural pose he'd re-site a Ghenghis Khan biopic to the housing schemes in south Boston.
